YCH New Distripark™: Building the Next Generation of Sustainable Logistics Infrastructure
Officially opened in November 2025, YCH New Distripark™ at Tuas is a major milestone in YCH Group’s 70-year journey of logistics innovation.
Sustainability is built into the facility from the ground up. New Distripark™ has achieved LEED Platinum certification and is powered by a 2.4 MWp solar installation that supports almost all daytime operations. Instead of demolishing and rebuilding, YCH retained and repurposed the existing 17,000-square-metre, four-storey structure. This avoided about 3,000 tonnes of embodied carbon emissions, while also reducing construction waste and the need for new materials.
The facility is also designed for stronger day-to-day operations. This multi-temperature logistics centre sits on a site area of over 26,000 square metres and can store about 35,000 pallets. It also features a fully automated high-density 4-way shuttle Automated Storage and Retrieval System with capacity for up to 15,000 pallets. Other smart and sustainable features include AI-enhanced security and safety monitoring, intelligent lighting, EV charging infrastructure and rainwater harvesting.
Together, these features show how sustainability and productivity can support each other. New Distripark™ helps lower environmental impact while improving efficiency, safety and long-term resilience. It also expanded YCH’s regional green building portfolio to 10 green buildings in 2025, supporting the Group’s target to certify all newly owned facilities and upgrade existing buildings with energy-efficiency improvements by 2040.
From Distripark™ to New Distripark™: A Continuing Evolution
New Distripark™ builds on a model that has shaped YCH’s growth for more than three decades. The original Distripark™ concept brought warehousing, technology, integrated logistics services and environmental responsibility into one connected platform. Over time, this thinking evolved into YCH’s broader Asset-Right strategy: developing well-located, high-performing logistics assets that meet operational needs, customer requirements and long-term environmental goals.
- Technology: YCH’s Distriparks were among the first in Asia to integrate advanced warehouse management systems, automation, and green building standards.
- Sustainability: YCH has long been a regional pioneer in sustainable logistics infrastructure. In 2009, its Shanghai Lingang Logistics Centre became the first warehouse in China to achieve LEED 2009 New Construction certification. This was followed in 2010 by YCH Distripark India in Chennai, which became India’s first green warehouse to achieve LEED Gold certification from the Indian Green Building Council.
- Regional Integration: Distriparks served as central nodes in YCH’s regional supply chain, supporting industries from electronics to pharmaceuticals and enabling seamless trade across ASEAN and China.
The Power of an Integrated Hub
When YCH’s signature Distripark™ opened in Tuas in 1992, it changed how logistics infrastructure could be planned and operated. Warehouses were no longer just places to store goods. The Distripark™ model showed how space, automation and information systems could work together to improve speed, accuracy and scale.
The first Tuas Distripark™ spanned 78,000 square metres and showed the value of designing logistics facilities around both capacity and productivity. With high-density racking and a pioneering Automated Storage and Retrieval System, it doubled pallet capacity to 100,000 within five years, helping YCH respond to rising regional demand.
Its real strength was integration. By combining high-density storage, automation and information systems in one facility, the Distripark™ model improved efficiency, visibility and scalability, giving YCH a platform for regional growth.

That model was later extended across Asia Pacific. By the late 1990s, Distriparks had become a backbone of YCH’s regional operations, supporting sectors ranging from chemicals and pharmaceuticals to electronics, technology and consumer goods.
The same thinking later supported new platforms such as Supply Chain City® and the SuperPort® network. New Distripark™ continues this evolution by adapting the proven Distripark™ model for today’s priorities: energy-efficient building design, onsite renewable energy, intelligent systems and EV-ready infrastructure. Today, it stands as a working example of how YCH is scaling lower-emission, future-ready logistics infrastructure across the region.
Across Asia Pacific, YCH’s Distriparks became part of a broader regional network supporting customers in electronics, chemicals, healthcare, cold chain, consumer goods and e-commerce. The timeline below highlights selected milestones from that journey.
Singapore
- 1992: Launch of the signature YCH Distripark at Tuas, Singapore, marking YCH’s transformation from a transport operator to a full-fledged logistics and supply chain provider. The Tuas Distripark featured high-density racking and, by 1997, a state-of-the-art Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS), doubling pallet capacity to 100,000.
- 2025: Launch of YCH New Distripark at Tuas, a LEED Platinum-certified, solar-powered and technology-enabled logistics facility that expanded YCH’s regional green building portfolio to 10 green buildings.
Malaysia
- 1993: Signing of a S$15 million joint venture with the Penang Development Corporation to operate a Distripark in Penang.
- 1998: Unveiling of the Penang Distripark.
China
- 1994: YCH becomes one of the first Singaporean companies to enter China, sealing a S$20 million joint venture to set up a Distripark in Shanghai.
- Late 1990s: Expansion into Kunshan and Suzhou, establishing Distriparks and logistics hubs in China’s key industrial corridors.
- 2002: Groundbreaking ceremony for YCH Tianjin Distripark.
- 2009: Construction of YCH’s first LEED-certified warehouse in Shanghai, setting a new standard for green logistics infrastructure in China.
India
- 2010: Launch of the Chennai Distripark at the SIPCOT Hi-tech SEZ near Sunguvarchatram. This facility became India’s first green warehouse to achieve LEED Gold certification.
