Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology (“SWITCH”) 2025 is organised annually by Enterprise Singapore and supported by the National Research Foundation Singapore (“NRF”) under the Prime Minister’s Office. It is an Asia-wide innovation festival that unites global innovators, emerging entrepreneurs, and industry leaders to exchange ideas, explore the latest technological innovations, and forge meaningful partnerships. It also serves as a platform for the industry’s foremost leaders and innovators to showcase their At SWITCH 2025, Sunil Nambiar, Head of Operations for Group Strategy, Sustainability, and Communications, spoke on the panel titled Decarbonisation in Motion: Reinventing Logistics for a Low-Carbon Future, moderated by the National Climate Change Secretariat, the Singapore Government’s central agency responsible for developing and implementing domestic and international climate strategies to combat climate change. The panel brought together industry practitioners, including YCH’s partner Ecoswift, a leading green fleet specialist in Singapore, to discuss current corporate decarbonisation efforts and reflect on progress in sustainability and operational resilience. Recent global challenges, including the increasing frequency and severity of natural disasters, have transformed the supply chain and logistics industry into a highly volatile one, prone to disruptions on many fronts. Remaining financially viable demands adaptability.
During the discussion, Sunil highlighted key initiatives that YCH has spearheaded such as establishing one of India’s first green warehouses in 2010, to launching Singapore’s first electric prime mover in 2024, a major milestone for YCH. He emphasised that sustainability is integral to YCH; it is not pursued simply to capture new markets or promote unique value propositions for customers. Rather, as a privately owned, family-led business, sustainable development equips YCH in future-proofing its business.
Sunil also stressed the importance of workforce development, sharing how training and upskilling employees – from building foundational sustainability awareness to equipping teams with the skills required to operate new low-emission technologies – has been a priority for YCH. Employees are not only among the primary stakeholders affected by environmental and social challenges, but also essential drivers of change
across the organisation.
