Kunshan, CHINA, 12 July 2011 - Leading Singapore-based logistics and supply chain management (SCM) company YCH Group today signed an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the Kunshan's Lujia County Government to establish YCH's emblematic City Supply Chain ("CSC") services for the entire Kunshan city. The MOU was signed at the 2011 Kunshan Service Industries Business Symposium, where Kunshan Party Secretary Mr. Guan Aiguo was the Guest-of-Honour witnessing the significant event.
YCH is the first regional logistics and SCM company to be identified by the Kunshan government to offer supply chain expertise and consultancy services to manage the growing logistics requirements of Kunshan. Customized for the mainland China market that is currently facing various logistics and last mile delivery challenges brought about by rapid population growth far exceeding the speed of infrastructural developments, YCH's suite of CSC services for Kunshan is expected to relieve some of the current concerns in traffic congestion and guarantee a higher level of product safety, quality and security.
Given Kunshan's export-oriented economy, the city is also facing an increase in cargo flows as more and more global manufacturers shift their production bases to various parts of China, including Kunshan where many of the regional offices of electronics and IT companies reside. A critical constituent of YCH's East China network, YCH Kunshan has been a robust provider of end-to-end SCM services ranging from warehousing, transportation management, import/export clearance, customs documentation, VMI and customized fulfillment services for global MNCs such as Dell, Danisco and ExxonMobil.
In terms of CSC activities, this is YCH's second major agreement with a Chinese city since its collaboration with the Chengdu government in October 2009, where the Group entered into a strategic partnership with Chengdu to establish an advanced sustainable supply chain framework for the entire city in order to meet their needs for efficient and safe distribution of consumer goods, as well as the reduction of air pollution, traffic congestion and overall logistics costs due to more optimized fleet management and route planning.
The announcement of this MOU will hence further strengthen YCH's CSC niche in urban-focused consumer fulfillment while partnering the Chinese government agencies to be well-aligned to their macro city development plans. It also signifies a stronger distribution network and capabilities for YCH East China due to Kunshan's location within Suzhou and adjacency to Shanghai - where several other state-of-the-art YCH DistriParks and facilities are also situated.
YCH is one of the pioneer Singapore firms to enter the Chinese market, in Shanghai in the mid 1990s. It has since built a comprehensive logistics network in the country with presence in gateway cities such as Beijing, Tianjin, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Kunshan, Xiamen, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Macau and Hong Kong servicing MNC customers such as Dell, Motorola, Compal, Samsung and Mary Kay. Most recent developments in YCH's Greater China network include the launch of the highly advanced, RFID-powered 465,000 square feet YCH DistriPark in Shanghai Yangshan Free Port in October last year, as well as the announcement of a partnership with the Xiamen Port Development to launch a 609,000 square feet XPD-YCH DistriPark in Xiamen, China to become the Centre of Excellence for VMI and ODM Capabilities, providing AIO (All-In-One) logistics solution for world-class companies.
