YCH Dinner & Dance 2023

Singapore, 5 May 2023 - YCH held its annual Dinner & Dance (D&D) at Fairmont Singapore on 29 April 2023. Attendees were seen showing up in their retro and vintage outfits, in line with the theme of the night - "Let's go back to 1955 when it first began".

This D&D marks the first one since the pandemic – employees, partners and family members alike got together to celebrate another year with YCH Group and were greatly entertained with performances, games and a lucky draw!

Guests were greeted with a huge arch – complete with real lookalike jukeboxes on each side - when they arrived at the Ballroom Entrance of Fairmont.

Plenty of interactive pre-event activities were set up for guests to take part in. A revolving 360 video booth, an Insta-photo booth and a kacang puteh booth were set up in the foyer.

The event kicked off with YCH Group's Executive Chairman Dr Robert Yap, President Director Mr Roland Yap and Vice President of Operations Excellence Mr Roger Yap singing 爱拼才会赢 (Strive to Win) followed by more performances by our colleagues, in various languages.

Dr Yap then took centre stage to address fellow employees and guests, touching on growth and key milestones over the past 68 years of operations. He highlighted our ability to stay agile and adaptable during the pandemic. While he looked back on our past achievements, he also encouraged us to think of YCH Group in the future and take on the mindset of lifelong learning to challenge shifting paradigms so that we can stay a step ahead of the competition.

Game Time proved to be where the energy was concentrated at. We've never seen our colleagues move that quickly to participate in games such as Finish the Lyrics and What’s That? We thought we'd seen it all - our bosses strutting on stage, that slightly-quiet-colleague singing their lungs out into the microphones, and company partners jumping out of their seats for a chance to answer a game question!

YCH Got Talent segment was also part of the D&D Itinerary. 2 solo and 1 group act showcased their materials consecutively (1 singing act, 1 diablo act, and 1 singing and dancing act), earning a roar of applause after every performance. The well-deserved win went to Wesley from YSG for his wonderful Diablo Act! Congratulations, Wesley and to our runners-up, Jasmine from MarketingCommunications and SCALA Team from....well, SCALA!

The event was also a chance to honour the long-serving employees who have contributed to the company's growth over the years, some of whom have been with YCHGroup for more than 35 years! Dr Yap and Executive Directors, Margaret Toh and Catherine Yap presented over 80 awards throughout the event.

Among the awardees was Mr Mohamed Bin Jonid (pictured right, beside YCH Group Executive Chairman Dr Robert Yap) who has been with YCH Group as a Prime Mover Driver for more than 35 years.

The night ended with the highly anticipated lucky draw - with more than 100 lucky draw prizes to be won. Attendees were seen clutching their lucky draw tickets in hopes to snatch one of the top 10 prizes.

All in all, it was a great D&D and we would like to thank the people behind it for arranging such a spectacular event for all of us in YCH Group. It has been a blast, and we look forward to the next major event!
