YCH joins as a member of the China-ASEAN Multimodal Transport Connectivity Alliance to foster greater partnership to promote trade flows in the Southern Transport Corridor

Singapore, 15 May 2019 – YCH Group, Asia Pacific’s leading integrated end-to-end supply chain and logistics partner signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China-Singapore Nanning International Logistics Park (CSILP), an integrated logistics park in southern Guangxi, which is set to play a key role in supporting the Southern Transport Corridor.

Guangxi has become one of China’s fastest growing provinces due to its strong regional economic growth and continued urbanisation for the past few years. Further complimented with the Belt and Road Initiative, and also the development of the New Land-Sea Transport Corridor in Western China, the intermodal logistics will consist of a network of railway links from Western China to the port of Qinzhou in southern Guangxi, further connecting Southeast Asia by sea.

With this MoU, YCH will also join as a member of the China-ASEAN Multimodal Transport Connectivity Alliance and will embark on a feasibility study to explore the possibility of establishing a branch office in CSILP, to be done together with the aid of the government agencies of China and Singapore. The objective of the study is to build a long-term cooperative relationship and explore the Nanning, Guangxi market to provide logistics services with the support of Pacific International Lines, CSILP and Guangxi Provincial Government.

The development of the Southern Transport Corridor has created a need for a chain of distribution centres, and in turn adds value to Singapore’s position as a key global node. CSILP seeks to consolidate supply and provide world-class logistics solutions such as central warehousing, cold chain management and multimodal transportation. It will be one of the key nodes to establish a seamless link to move cargo from Southeast Asia to China’s western region via Guangxi’s Qinzhou port in Beibu Gulf (the Gulf of Tonkin).

With Guangxi’s position strengthened as China’s pathway to ASEAN, YCH’s collaboration in CSILP goes in line with the recent development of its China-ASEAN Regular Shuttle Service. This service offers on-demand, highly flexible and cost-effective route cargo transportation from Chongqing, China, passing through Guangxi Pingxiang Friendship Pass and a few ASEAN countries such as Vietnam and Thailand, before arriving at its destination in Singapore in just 7 days.

“YCH has been aggressively growing our distribution network throughout the region by enhancing and facilitating trade connectivity between China and ASEAN, and this has become an outmost importance in light of the Belt and Road Initiative. By only building an increasing seamless distribution network and with our deep-rooted understanding of local terrains, we can empower our partners to grow and scale across Asia and beyond in a more agile and cost-effective manner,” said Mr Jeffrey Tan, Head of Network and Connectivity, and Corporate Development of YCH Group.

Its DistriParks and supply chain hubs are strategically located in more than 100 key cities across countries such as Greater China, India, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam and South Korea.

YCH is also working with partners in Vietnam and Philippines, to establish Smart Growth Centres as part of SGConnect™ (Smart Growth Connect), ASEAN Business Advisory Council’s (ASEAN-BAC) fifth Legacy Project. The Smart Growth Centres in Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi aims to be the supply chain hub for urban cities, that will distribute and manage a range of different products for the city population while reducing socio-economic burden such as pollution, congestion and noise by leveraging of technologies to maximise distribution efficiencies and quality.

YCH’s footprint is also strengthened with distribution development such as the China-ASEAN Regular Shuttle Service. This Chongqing to Singapore cross-border cargo transportation service was borne from the strategic partnership with Chongqing ASEAN International Logistics Co. Ltd (CAIL) and Chongqing Banan District Government, which started back in 2016, strengthening YCH’s expansive connectivity between the two countries.

By jointly developing a southward trade route and logistics passage connecting China and ASEAN as part of the CCI (Chongqing Connectivity Initiative), the successful completion of the China-ASEAN Regular Shuttle Service, is open to new opportunities to further promote trade between China and ASEAN region by allowing regional businesses to enjoy an avenue of fast and on-demand cargo transportation service, with Singapore and Chongqing playing the role of mutual hubs in ASEAN and Western China respectively.
