YCH Manages Western Distribution Center for Carrefour in Chengdu

- YCH appointed to implement City Supply ChainTM solution and operate Carrefour's western distribution center based in Chengdu to optimize its end-to-end retail supply chain in Western China

Chengdu, CHINA, 23 April 2015 - YCH Group, Asia Pacific's leading integrated end-to-end supply chain management and logistics partner, was awarded a contract from Carrefour to manage the full spectrum of logistics operations for their western distribution center in the Xinjin Country District of Chengdu, China. The distribution center spans over an area of 48,000 sq. meters, and will be streamlined to optimise the flow of goods to 37 Carrefour hypermarts in the West Territory of China.

Leveraging on YCH's patented City Supply ChainTM solution, the partnership will see YCH operating a comprehensive suite of supply chain solutions including warehouse management, on-time picking and delivery, as well as transportation tracking and fleet optimization for Carrefour. Customizable to resolve various logistics and last mile delivery challenges, the YCH City Supply ChainTM package will provide Carrefour ultimate peace of mind with its ability to improve food freshness and hygiene, product safety, quality and security; as well as optimize distribution routes, provide effective management of trucks and lower overall logistics costs for Carrefour and its suppliers.

At the Official Opening ceremony for the Carrefour western distribution center at 318 North Long Xi Road, Jin Hua Town of the Xinjin Country District held on 23rd April 2015, Mr Spencer Liau, Logistics Operation Director of Carrefour China reaffirmed the French retailer's decision to collaborate with YCH due to our “extensive experience, strong management capabilities and excellent track record servicing various global brand owners and manufacturers across Asia”.

YCH had been a dedicated SCM partner to Carrefour in Chengdu for the last five years, providing warehousing management, fleet and route optimization, among others, through the Wuhou district facility at the fringe of Chengdu's city centre. Having demonstrated expertise in deepening Chengdu's inland network for quicker and more efficient distribution, coupled with a keen alignment to Carrefour's environmental and sustainability policies, the partnership had since expanded to take on a bigger role to manage Carrefour's Western China operations.

To raise productivity and operational efficiency for Carrefour China Western DC, YCH will also be implementing an electronic proof of delivery (e-PODTM) system where delivery personnel are able to capture receipts and send status reports on-the-go through their mobile devices, thereby shortening process lead times and improving information flow. This will also allow enhancement of real-time route and load planning as deliveries are tracked and linked to the management dashboard.

Mr Bennett Neo, CEO of YCH Group who was present at the opening reiterated YCH's commitment to provide best-in-class solutions and top-notch service to our world-class customers. He said, “We are glad to be Carrefour's partner of choice in the overall supply chain management of their newest western distribution centre. This validates YCH's unique expertise and experience in executing sustainable and consumer-centric fulfilment solutions for global brands that are rapidly regionalizing in emerging markets such as Chengdu. We look forward to developing this symbiotic partnership with Carrefour to grow from strength-to-strength in China and beyond.”

This special milestone comes on the back of YCH Chengdu's recent signing of an MOU a few days ago on 20th April 2015 with the Shuangliu County Municipal Government to develop a high-tech DistriParkTM in Shuangliu's Aviation and Logistics Economic zone to enhance SCM infrastructure and logistics development to cope with rapid urbanization in Western China.
