Together with Knowledge Partner Bain & Co., BFI-@SMU recently held a session themed “Founder’s Mentality – The Path to Sustainable Growth”. Family businesses go through an arc of life, characterised by ups and downs. Rapid growth may be followed by decline and an understanding of the “Founder’s Mentality” may be what they need.

Our Executive Chairman Dr Robert Yap was part of a lively panel discussion during the event, along with Ron Sim (Founder and CEO, OSIM International Ltd), and Dr Gan See Khem (Executive Chairman and Managing Director, HMI). During the discussion Dr Yap shared how he grew YCH from its humble beginnings to what it is today.

Singapore Management University established the Business Families Institute (BFI@SMU) in 2012 in response to the growing needs of business families in Asia. BFI@SMU collaborates with various partners to be a knowledge leader in Asian business family-related education, engagement and research. The vision of BFI@SMU is to facilitate business families in Asia to develop, harness and leverage their family and financial capital across generations.
