The MOE Economics Seminar is an annual half-day event which aims to support teachers’ understanding of how concepts in the A-Level Economics curriculum can be applied in the context of the real world. In its first edition in 2015, MOE’s Curriculum Planning and Development Division worked with representatives from the Competition Commission of Singapore, International Enterprise Singapore, Ministry of Environment and Water Resources and Ministry of Manpower, to craft presentations that were relevant to the microeconomics and macroeconomics portion of the syllabus.

This year’s event was attended by about 200 JC economics teachers and 90 JC Economics students and focused on the Committee on the Future Economy (CFE) and Budget 2016. In his capacity as a member of the CFE, Dr Robert Yap spoke to the teachers and students. Dr Yap spoke about the role of CFE and its potential impact on Singapore. Dr Yap also participated in the Q&A and panel discussion session with the other speakers.
