Debating Innovation at NUS Think Business Forum

As digital disruption is feeding an innovation frenzy with companies and entrepreneurs consistently coming up with plans to reinvent their status quo, questions such as what innovation is and how companies should innovate arise. Think Business, a free knowledge site on NUS Business School organised a forum to address these issues.

Held at NUS Business School on 25 October, Dr Robert Yap was speaking alongside professors and entrepreneurs, at the forum moderated by Jason Tan, editor of the freesheet TODAY.

Dr Robert Yap inspired forum attendees with how he transformed YCH from a simple lorry business to a cutting-edge supply chain solutions company through integrating IT into the business.

“We use innovation not just to make our jobs easier but also make the job sexier. It is not just about big innovation — small ones are also good. But they have to be smart innovations — innovations that will help drive growth,” he said.

The forum concluded that an organisation should learn to accept failures and successes when it comes to innovation.

image1 The YCH60 logo is formed by the number ‘6’ and shi ‘十’, ten in Chinese, making up sixty, signifying six decades of supply chain excellence. The shadow of the combination represents the Chinese character sheng ‘升’ or RISE, YCH’s corporate philosophy.  The combination also resembles ye ‘叶’, the first character of our Chinese company name ‘叶水福’.
