The AVA Food Industry Convention is a biennial event organised by Singapore’s Agri-food Veterinary Authority to build a greater understanding within the food industry the importance of food security to Singapore. The theme of this year’s convention is ‘A Business Perspective to Food Security – Strengthening the Food Supply Chain’.

The Convention’s objectives are to examine the vulnerabilities of the global food supply chain in relation to Singapore’s food security, share the various best practices in managing these risks, and reinforce the importance of the role that the food industry in Singapore plays in ensuring food security for Singapore.

Our CEO Mr Bennett Neo was invited to give a keynote speech about the ‘Management of Food Supply Chain, its Vulnerability and Risks’ with the objective of providing insight into how local food industry players can strategize their operations to achieve economies of scale through collaboration and sharing logistics to optimize supply chain efficiency.

Within his presentation, Mr Neo touched upon trends influencing the global food supply chain, the role of the logistics industry in enabling the food supply chain, some of the challenges faced by the food supply chain, and suggestions on how it may be strengthened. Together with other speakers, he also participated in the panel discussed moderated by Professor Annie Koh, which further elaborated on points raised in their presentations and answered questions from the audience.
