YCH 60TH ANNIVERSARY CHARITY GOLF RAISED MORE THAN S$400K FOR ITE ENDOWMENT FUND

- In commemoration of YCH's Diamond Jubilee, the Group organized a fundraising golf event to maximize opportunities for financially disadvantaged ITE students to complete their education and further their vocational expertise in skills-based learning

Singapore, 8 July 2015 -YCH Group, Asia Pacific's leading integrated end-to-end supply chain management and logistics partner held a Charity Golf Tournament at the Sentosa Golf Club yesterday, 7th July 2015 as part of their Diamond Jubilee - 60th Anniversary celebrations this year. YCH's corporate social responsibility (CSR) framework is focused on 3Es, namely Education, Environment and Engagement. With "Teaching a man to fish" as YCH's philosophy for supporting Education, the ITE Endowment Fund was chosen as the beneficiary for the fundraising campaign as part of the Group's commitment to groom more local youth and talents in the highly skills-driven logistics industry. The ITE Endowment Fund builds upon a sustainable pool of funds for student financial assistance through holding the principle amount in perpetuity, generating returns to help needy students with their daily and schooling expenses in the long run.

Based on a recent survey by ITE, three out of five students studying in ITE comes from families with per capita income of no more than $650 - a significant difference when compared to the national average of almost $3000. Mr. Aw York Bin, Deputy CEO (Industry) of ITE said, "Many of our students are eager learners but require financial assistance to complete their education. As such, we are glad that corporations like YCH Group have taken the initiative to raise funds for us, investing in and impacting upon our next generation. We will ensure that the funds raised will be put to good use - particularly in encouraging our students to deepen their niche skills and further their passion in areas of interest."

The beneficiaries of the fund typically include single-parent families or where one or both parents are unable to work due to medical or other reasons. Many ITE students have to undertake part-time work, while juggling the demands of their studies, in order to cope with basic daily expenses such as meals and transport costs. Sadly, some even have to make the difficult decision to forgo their education and leave ITE prematurely in order to support their families. In view of this, ITE and YCH will also be collaborating to explore the implementation of the Earn & Learn Programme for ITE students to further nurture their vocational expertise and technical specialization, thus improving their employability upon the completion of the programme.

Ms. Catherine Yap, Executive Director of YCH and Chairperson of the YCH 60th Anniversary events said, "ITE takes in about 25% of each cohort every year, hence we felt that supporting ITE's growth as one of the key institutions of higher learning will create meaningful impact to our economy. As Singapore demands more and more skills-based talents with vocational expertise, YCH would like to support ITE students on a holistic basis - in addition to fundraising, we are also looking into creating opportunities for the students to acquire hands-on exposure and real-life working experiences by way of internships and practitioner-based immersion programs within our organization."

Apart from the Charity Golf and other programs planned to commemorate YCH Group's Diamond Jubilee this year, the next major upcoming highlight will be a gala dinner in October to mark the organization's 60 years' milestone in its journey towards achieving supply chain excellence.
